Updates on the Ceramics Expansion

Our newly remodeled Ceramics Studio spaces are coming together ahead of the Fall 2023 semester.

The Ceramics program has seen a huge demand since reopening in 2020, and construction on an expansion of the space has been well underway since early July 2023. The ceramics classrooms and studios have been thoughtfully redesigned to improve facilities, increase capacity, and provide a better overall experiences for students and artists.

Ceramics Studio Redesign & Expansion Project Launched

The Umbrella Arts Education Program is excited to announce we are embarking on a significant redesign and expansion of our highly popular Umbrella Ceramics Studio Program.

The program has experienced increased and robust demand since reopening in 2020, with classes reaching maximum capacity within hours of opening registration each semester, and storage space strained for our thriving independent studio community.

Make/See/Know/Believe Ceramics Workshop

Thank you to everyone who attended this weekend's Make/See/Know/Believe ceramics workshop with with Mark Shapiro and Sam Taylor! Over the course of two days, Mark and Sam shared their years of experience in making and decorating ceramics through interactive discussions and demonstrations. Attendees had the opportunity to learn techniques and skills from the two artists in a hands-on session in The Umbrella Ceramic Studio facilities.

A huge thank you also to David Rosen, one of The Umbrella's amazing volunteer photographers, who was on hand to document the event.
