Zachary Mickelson
Zachary Mickelson is a ceramic artist and educator who has been working and teaching in the Boston area since 2010. From nearly a decade at the Harvard Ceramic Program, and a number of other local ceramics studios, Zachary has experienced firsthand the importance of a well-run studio to support the creative exploration in the ceramic arts. By teaching a diverse set of students, and helping multiple ceramic studios and programs develop, Zachary has forged many lasting connections to the vibrant ceramic communities in this area.
Zachary grew up on Cape Ann, Massachusetts, an island with a strong history of the arts, artist communities, and shipbuilding. He studied ceramic sculpture and pottery at Lewis and Clark University in Portland, Oregon. After earning his degree with honors, Zachary was able to live for a year in Saitama Japan, teaching, learning pottery technique, and absorbing the Japanese celebration of fine craft. Currently, Zachary lives in Lynn, MA continuing to create functional artwork and teach ceramics.
