WINTER ADULTS: Li Hongwei: Exploring Contemporary Sculpture and Ceramics

Course Description:     
Join us for a full day workshop with celebrated sculptor and ceramic artist Li Hongwei. Through lecture, slides, demonstration and conversation, Li will lead us through the breadth of his sculptural works. Li will discuss his recent series of crystalline glazed ceramic and stainless steel sculptures, as well as his hand built ceramic self portraiture and installation. He will share with us some of the technical insights and lessons he has learned through working with crystalline glazes.

The program is concurrent with an exhibition of his works at The Pucker Gallery in Boston, running from March 23rd to May 19th, with an opening reception Saturday, 30 March 2024, 3-6PM.

Li Hongwei (b.1980, China) is a contemporary artist who works and lives in Beijing and New York. His works have been acquired by the British Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Art Institute of Chicago, The Israel Museum, the Harvard Art Museums, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, and the Long Museum among others.
