Community Uses, Wider Regional Cultural Impact Discussed

 

CONCORD, MA—A delegation representing Concord's state elected officials and the Massachusetts Cultural Council was treated to a detailed, inside look at the ambitious ongoing renovation and expansion of The Umbrella Community Arts Center in the former Emerson School building at 40 Stow Street.

2019-2020 Theater Season Announced

The Umbrella Stage Company has released its video announcing the line-up of shows for its first, expanded season as Greater Boston's newest professional theater.

The 2019-2020 season will take place in the two theaters of the newly constructed Performing Arts Wing at The Umbrella's 40 Stow Street complex.

Open the door to the theater at The Umbrella Annex and you’ll see a stage, center view. Expand your focus, and you’ll see the crew scattered around the black box theater, reading lines and trying on outfits.

Maureen Festa, costume designer, reaches into a blue IKEA bag full of denim jackets. She pulls one out, has a crew member try it on – it fits him perfectly on the first try. “I’m going to turn it into a vest and rip off the sleeves,” Festa thinks aloud…
