SPRING ADULTS: Ellen Schön - Open to New Technology: 3D Printing in Clay!

Course Description:
This presentation will introduce viewers to the process of 3D clay printing, and how it has influenced my artistic practice. There is tension between control in designing on the computer and chance in the printing of clay. Using this new technology has stimulated discovery, expanding my ability to create larger and/or more complex ceramic forms. My intention is what it always has been--to create unique, personal forms, which resonate, whether they are functional, metaphorical, or somewhere in between.

In this lecture we will be examining the process of 3D printing, viewing slides and examples of Ellen’s work, and discussing how this process has elevated and expanded her creative process. There will be a live demonstration of 3D clay printing at the end of the event.
