SPRING ADULTS: Textured Surfaces Workshop - WAITLIST ONLY

BEG/INT/ADV

This is an introduction to several approaches to activating and enhancing the ceramic surface on clay through its stages, from fresh and soft through leather hard to bone dry. All techniques—including an exploration of slip, underglaze, pencil, oxide, brushwork, sgrafitto, water etching, stencil and inlay-- are low-tech and each stand alone in its expressive potential. This class will explore combining and layering of these techniques to create complex, lively and sophisticated surfaces for later application on pottery or sculpture. Brainstorming surface possibilities on sushi trays (or something similar) creates an exquisite and usable set of wares to be used for future reference, if not upon the table! This class is suitable for all students.

Please note: This is a demo workshop only. Open to all skill levels. No other registration required.
