SPRING ADULTS: Fundamentals of Japanese Ink Painting: Landscapes

Course Description:     
Learn several techniques of painting with Sumi ink and brushes to create expressive and meditative paintings of nature. Create sumi ink on a stone with an ink stick and water, use the brush in creative ways, explore classical Japanese watercolor techniques, try marbling and more. Have fun with this flowing form of art! Landscape topics include mountains, waterfalls, rocks, trees, birds, insects, and more. Inspirations from the master paintings of the Japanese Edo Period will be explored in each session. Beginning students are welcome.

Corry Buckwalter is a visual artist and art educator based in Arlington, Massachusetts. Her landscape watercolor paintings explore urban rivers, ponds and hillsides where glimpses of nature can offer surprising moments.
