The Robbins House @ The Umbrella Visiting Exhibition

Discover the little-known African American history of Concord!

The Umbrella is delighted to host a visiting exhibition of materials from The Robbins House at Minute Man National Historical Park, currently closed due to Covid-19. Learn the stories of several early Concord African American families who were able to support themselves and lead independent lives on their own land, pursue independence, and contribute to the antislavery movement and abolitionist causes.

Special small group (8 or fewer) half-hour visits with an interpreter will be available by appointment, at select days and times through November. Safety guidelines and sanitizing protocols must be followed to gain admission.

Also on display in the Main Gallery is a mixed media installation, One Day I Will Walk into The Umbrella, with artwork by Justin P. Douglass.
