Artist Talk - Mark Sutherland

Join us for an informal series of talks with Umbrella Studio Artists.

Don't you ever wonder what are the stories behind some of your fellow artists in the Umbrella--the life experiences or events that have shaped them and their art, the influence of other artists or teachers they might admire, or their vision for their work?

Mark Sutherland and I are excited to bring back these optional forums for us as an artist community to participate in.  We are hoping to provide opportunities for artists to share about their work, or  perhaps do a demonstration or maybe host a roundtable discussion about ideas that excite them in regards to the process of making art.  We are open to a whole gamut of ideas--poetry readings, informal  "fireside chats", maybe a book discussion, or bringing in another artist or a filmmaker whose work you admire and who would be happy to share with the community.  The possibilities are endless.  I think these forums not only will give us an opportunity to get to know each other better as a community but also could provide inspiration and nourishment for our own work.

Mark Sutherland is going to kick it all off by doing a power presentation about his work on Wednesday, Feb 12 at 1 pm in one of the new classrooms in the Umbrella.  We hope you can come and learn more about the fascinating work and fine craft that Mark does. Also feel free to bring friends!!!!

All best,
Weezie (Studio 311)
