FALL ADULTS: Wabi-Sabi Vessels: Embracing Imperfection
BEG/INT/ADV
Course Description:
In this one-day ceramics experience, we’ll explore wabi-sabi—the Japanese philosophy of impermanence and beauty in imperfection—through the lens of historical and contemporary ceramics. Beginning with slides and discussion, Sarah will guide students through different interpretations of this philosophy and method of making. Sarah will also offer wheel-throwing demonstrations of how this approach influences her process and work, inspiring students to create expressive, organic vessels that embrace asymmetry, texture, and individuality. This class is a demo only and is suitable for all students.
