The Umbrella Summer Arts Camp Returns to Concord

March 16, 2022 by Rachel Olson

Learning, growing, and experimenting through art is at the heart of The Umbrella Arts Center’s Summer Arts Under The Umbrella summer camps. Among our 3 camp programs, our original The Umbrella Arts Camp focuses on the love of art for creative kids in Grades K-8 and programming is created with a keen awareness of the developmental needs of children and young adults. Our popular camp for creative kids provides hands-on arts education led by experienced practicing artists, arts educators, and teachers.

SAFE

For Summer 2022, The Umbrella will continue serving its mission through fun, safe and inspiring, in-person learning that follows the most up-to-date COVID-19 safety guidelines. Small classes ensure plenty of individual attention and a safely distanced learning environment. Trained Assistant Teachers, similar camp counselors, get to know each child within an age group and work to build a cooperative spirit within the group.

INSPIRING

Emphasizing variety and discovery, the camps’ programming explores art activities for every interest throughout The Umbrella’s newly constructed arts education facilities, theaters, and makerspace, exploring artistic disciplines such as: Drawing & Painting, 2D and 3D Mixed Media, Pottery, Performance Art, Woodworking, and more.

Each week has a unique theme with projects designed to engage children’s creativity and artistic spirit. Themes include: Art of the Americas, Elements of Nature are an Artists Inspiration, Artistic Aces Solving Cases, STEM / STEAM – Build, Make & Create, Ahoy! The Sea & Stories, Time Travel: Art Throughout Time, and Weird, Wild & Wacky Ways to Make Art.

Our New Teen Program offers Students in Grades 7 & 8 both a camp experience and leadership opportunity. This program is perfect for teens who still want to attend art camp while also preparing them for leadership opportunities such as being a future Classroom Assistant, Camp Counselor or Teacher.

FLEXIBLE

Families can plan around vacations or summer camp schedules by mixing and matching weeks / program options based on availability and interests. Full days (9-4:30), Half-day mornings (8:30-12), with an add on extended-day option for grades K-8 can help accommodate your summer schedule and keep your creative kid engaged. Pricing for in-person weeks start as low as $290 half-day and $500 full-day.
