SPRING ADULTS: Soda Firing Workshop

INT/ADV

Course Description:
Registration for Spring soda firings is available to anyone enrolled in a Winter semester class or Independent Program. Registration allots a “share” of the kiln; approximately one 14” X 28” kiln shelf worth of space to be filled with their pieces. Work will be loaded with an eye to fairness and an efficient kiln load. Participants may register for more than one share.

For those new to soda firing we will be offering a ~2 hour orientation and informational meeting on Wednesday, May 6th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Participants will also be sent an informational handout via email. Registration for this firing will also require participation in either the loading, firing, or unloading process. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the technical aspects of firing ceramic work, and get familiar with the soda firing process. We will plan on firing one kiln in May. Work from participants will be distributed through these two kils. Firing dates are subject to change if necessary. Questions should be directed to zachary@theumbrellaarts.org. This class is open to intermediate-advanced students currently enrolled in a Spring semester ceramics class or the Independent Program (not recommended for beginners).
