WINTER ADULTS: Handbuilding and Sculpture

In this class we will explore hand building techniques using natural objects, creatures, and forms as inspiration. Students will be supported through various hand-building traditions like coil and slab building, with an emphasis on creating sculptural objects. Students who are interested in creating vessels are also welcome and will be encouraged to explore the sculptural possibilities within a functional frame. This class is appropriate for all interested in learning more about the hand-building process and will accommodate all skill levels. Bring your sense of humor! This class is suitable for all skill levels.

 

Instructor: Corran Shrimpton
Corran Shrimpton is from Syracuse, NY and received her MFA from Georgia State University and her BFA from Alfred University. She has worked at a number of ceramic studios including The Saratoga Clay Arts Center in upstate NY, the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, FL the Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, IL, and most recently Mudflat Studios in Somerville, MA.
