WINTER ADULTS: Reductive Techniques for Drawing and Painting
Course Description:
This class explores how erasure, restraint, and omission can create presence through utilizing charcoal and oil paints. Through layered mark-making and subtraction, students will learn to build images by removing rather than adding. The course emphasizes process, material sensitivity, and cultivating subtlety through minimal gestures and atmospheric depth.

Ivo Makianich is a painter and educator whose work explores the relationship between time, space, and memory through a reductive, time-bound painting process. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in California, he later moved to New England.
