SUMMER ADULTS: Visiting Artist Workshop: Stuart Gair

Join us for a weekend workshop with visiting artist Stuart Gair!

The event will include demonstrations of how to throw and alter forms in various ways. Basic, straightforward shapes will be made on the potter's wheel and then rasped, cut, folded, pushed or scraped to create pared-down, geometric forms. Surface techniques will include carving and slip application. Gair will also address his approach to making forms specifically for the atmospheric firing process and how to make wadding resists, structures, and discs to create marks on the wares when fired. We will conclude Saturday’s conversation with a slideshow, artist talk, and visit to the nearby Lucy Lacoste gallery, where Stuart’s work will be on display. On Sunday we will gather in the ceramics studio for hands-on work with Stuart's instruction, putting the techniques and skills demonstrated by Gair into action!

Registration available for Saturday only, or for the full weekend event.

Please note: Full weekend registration is open only to students enrolled in the summer semester. Enrollment in this workshop does not grant access to the studio for the semester.
