SPRING YOUTH: Wheel Throwing Fundamentals (Ages 8-12) (Tuesdays)

Course Description:     
This beginner wheel throwing class where we'll cover all the fundamentals as well as many techniques to alter, spice up, and decorate the pieces you make. From cups to bowls to vases to jars, you will learn how to throw, trim, and glaze your pieces - and end the course with plenty of ceramics to show and share with your friends and family! You will practice basic techniques like centering, shaping, and creating simple forms. You will learn the process of adding attachments and explore the exciting world of glazing, adding a personal touch to your creations. Students that have taken this course previously are welcome to take it again as students will continue to develop their skill set and there will be some new projects.

Instructor: Phie Deal
Phie Deal is a ceramicist and sculptor from the Boston area. Their work focuses on returning to ancient and indigenous practices, such as working with clay taken straight from the ground, and firing work without a kiln.
