Phie Deal

Phie Deal is a ceramicist and sculptor from the Boston area. Their work focuses on returning to ancient and indigenous practices, such as working with clay taken straight from the ground, and firing work without a kiln. Phie is interested in traditional vessel forms and exploring ways to alter them, but their body of work also includes a multitude of abstract ceramic sculptures that were realized through exploration and improvisation. After receiving degrees in Psychology and Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics and Sculpture from Skidmore College, Phie has gone on to share their knowledge of ceramics with others.
