FALL ADULTS: Spontaneous Painting: Developing Artistic Courage and Confidence with Play

Course Description:     
Develop your spontaneity art muscle with visual play. Through a series of art games emphasizing process based exploration and artistic outcome based risk taking, we will explore projects that combine collage, drawing and painting with the goals of expanding our courage, confidence and comfort levels in making art while producing intriguing work. Discover the unexpected by working with elements such as pattern, shape relationships, line, harmonious and complimentary color, composition, scale, proportion and concealing and revealing. Explore the possibilities of textural mediums such as pumice, modeling paste, smoke drawing, Venetian plaster, stucco and lime paint. We will engage in enchanting experiments, then make a penultimate piece with your most successful composition. All levels welcome

Instructor: Jill Goldman-Callahan
Jill Goldman-Callahan is a contemporary abstract painter interested in mystery and process. She has an BA in Fine Arts and Anthropology from Bennington college and an MA in Art Therapy from Lesley University. Jill is a resident artist at the Umbrella.
