An Update on Summer Camp Registration
January 28, 2026 by Kelby
Dear Parents and Families,
Thank you for your interest in The Umbrella’s summer camp programs and your patience with the registration process that began yesterday, Tuesday, January 27. We appreciate the time you took out of your busy schedule to register, and apologize that many of you had a frustrating experience:
This year, we staggered start times and increased our server capacity in anticipation of high traffic, which was effective for our 12 PM registration for Arts & REC and Performing Arts camps. When registration opened at 1 PM for The Umbrella Arts Camps, however, our web services faltered under the high traffic and experienced intermittent crashes starting at 1 PM. (It’s not that you, the user, did anything incorrectly – it’s just that so many of you did as instructed at the same time.)
By 2 PM, we paused registration to confer with our tech partners and determine the best solution.
With the information we assessed in the last 24 hours and because we recognize that time is of the essence for families to determine their summer plans, our small but mighty Education Team is committed to personally reaching out to each family we’re aware was affected by Tuesday’s website outages no later than this Friday at 5 PM. (As of the time of posting this message, we have already touched base with hundreds of you!)
As of this moment, The Umbrella’s Summer Camp programs are not sold out: we are accommodating as many people as possible with the spaces available. If you do not hear from us by Friday at 5 PM, please email Rebecca@TheUmbrellaArts.org as specified in our Registration Guide & FAQ.
Thank you for your patience and understanding; we look forward to connecting with you soon.
Sincerely,
The Education Team at The Umbrella Arts Center
