SUMMER ADULTS: Combined Methods

INT/ADV

Course Description:
Break down the boundaries between hand-building and wheel throwing in this exploratory, individual project-based studio course. Designed to support students to develop and advance their personal body of work, this class encourages experimentation by overlapping and re-imagining disparate forming techniques.

Students will work with a variety of forming methods—including throwing, coiling, pinching, and slab construction—to explore new ways of building both functional and sculptural forms. Students will enhance surface through slip and glaze application, carving, texture, and layered resist techniques.

Each week, demonstrations responsive to the group’s interests will be included to guide and inspire individual projects. Katie will work one-on-one to support individual projects. This class is suitable for intermediate-advanced students.
