SPRING ADULTS WORKSHOP: Form and Narrative on Elegantly Embossed Ceramics with Visiting Artist Lisa Orr

Join us for a full day workshop with celebrated artist Lisa Orr, juror of this year's Earthworks biennial show, opening April 29th at The Umbrella Arts Center.

This event will include demonstrations, and discussion of Lisa’s work and career. Demonstrations will focus on the creation and surface treatment of utilitarian pottery works with layers of texture and exuberant color. Vessels will be formed in a soft, expressive style by pressing or throwing into simple clay molds, to be later assembled and embellished with trailing slip and hand made sprigs. Low-relief sprig “applique” making will be demonstrated. Some sculptural pieces will be pegged together with nichrome wire additions. While Lisa typically uses white earthenware, these processes can be adapted to almost any clay and temperature.

Please note: Enrollment in this workshop does not grant access to the studio for the semester.
