SPRING ADULTS: Traditional Kintsugi: A Six-Session Foundation Course
Please note: Registration is open to all but does not include clay, glaze/glaze firings, or ceramics studio access outside of workshop hours.
Course Description:
This course teaches traditional kintsugi using natural urushi lacquer and fully natural materials to achieve food-safe repairs. The process requires time, patience, and multiple stages of curing. Please note: This course uses urushi (natural Japanese lacquer). Urushi can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions similar to poison ivy in some individuals. Protective gloves will be provided and must be worn when handling lacquer. Please avoid direct skin contact and follow all safety instructions given in class. If you have known sensitivities, allergies, or respiratory concerns, consult with the instructor before registering. Proper ventilation procedures will be maintained, and students are expected to handle all materials with care and attention.
