Dozens of Online Arts Classes on Offer
#StayHome #StaySafe #StayCreative has been the mantra at The Umbrella Arts Center ever since the order to close non-essential businesses. Since then, we've been rigorously planning and building infrastructure to continue serving our mission: to enrich lives; inspire creativity, learning, and personal growth; and build a vibrant community through the arts.
With all in-person classes and workshops canceled, we have launched The Umbrella @ Home, offering the best possible online arts education experiences that families have come to expect from us.
Using a combination of Google classroom interaction, Zoom meetings, asynchronous video demos, activity kits and other materials, your favorite Umbrella teachers have created over two dozen course offerings for all ages in Painting, Fiber, Ceramics, Drawing, Design, Woodworking, and Dance/Movement.
Spring online classes begin as early as May 18, and are planned for flexibility. Most comprehensive courses run in discreet, four- to six-week sessions, shorter than a usual term at The Umbrella. There are some limited two-session workshops focusing on special topics such as The Ancient Art of Japanese Comics - Global Arts Drawing Series for Teens, while others can be purchased on a per-session basis such as the multigenerational Friday Family Dance Night!
We will also be releasing a wide variety of free at-home DIY creative activities and artists demo videos on a rolling basis for families that just want to find inspiration and work on projects at their own pace.
