Take 5 with Visual Artist-in-Residence Katie Fee

The Umbrella Arts Center's Artist-in-Residence program has expanded for 2025/26, and we're pleased to welcome a cohort of five makers and educators to make something unforgettable with our resources and for our community here in Concord. In ceramics, Katie Fee has moved into a studio and begun working and teaching with enthusiasm this month.

The Umbrella Visual Arts wraps up this season with two exhibitions featuring artwork by three talented Artists in Residence created during residencies at the Center this year.

Ceramics Community Sale May 11

On Saturday May 11, 2024, The Umbrella Arts Education Program and The Umbrella Ceramics Studio will host a fun pre-Mothers Day celebration here at 40 Stow Street!

From 11AM-5PM, find a perfect gift at our Community Ceramics Sale, then tour the Allie Kussin Gallery to be inspired by some truly stunning artwork by accomplished ceramic artists.

And from 2PM-4PM, those with little ones are invited to join our instructor-led Free Family Day Drop-In activity making Mothers Day-themed crafts.

 

Updates on the Ceramics Expansion

Our newly remodeled Ceramics Studio spaces are coming together ahead of the Fall 2023 semester.

The Ceramics program has seen a huge demand since reopening in 2020, and construction on an expansion of the space has been well underway since early July 2023. The ceramics classrooms and studios have been thoughtfully redesigned to improve facilities, increase capacity, and provide a better overall experiences for students and artists. 

Ceramics Studio Redesign & Expansion Project Launched

The Umbrella Arts Education Program is excited to announce we are embarking on a significant redesign and expansion of our highly popular Umbrella Ceramics Studio Program.

The program has experienced increased and robust demand since reopening in 2020, with classes reaching maximum capacity within hours of opening registration each semester, and storage space strained for our thriving independent studio community. 

Umbrella Welcomes New Ceramics Artist in Residence

The Umbrella is pleased to welcome our new Ceramics Artist in Residence, Katie Bosley Sabin! Katie is a talented ceramicist who earned her MFA in Ceramics from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and has previously been a resident at the Archie Bray in Helena, MT, Mudflat Studios in Boston, MA, and Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN. 

What Goes Around, Comes Around on Ben Eberle’s Potter’s Wheel

Master class ceramics artist and teacher Ben Eberle will lead a two-day workshop at The Umbrella Arts Center this weekend. In doing so he is returning to the place that literally shaped his life and career back when he threw his first pot in an Umbrella art studio as a young teen.
