Join us this Saturday as we celebrate Black History Month with a concert performance of Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown! This musical performance will feature some of Boston's greatest artists of color, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Front Porch Arts Collective.

Songs for a New World is a one-time performance at The Umbrella Main Stage Theater this Saturday, February 29 at 8:00 pm.

Return to Renovated Arts Center Brings More Options for Creative Kids This Summer

Concord, MA—The Umbrella Arts Center has opened registration for its expanded array of creative summer camps for 2020.

Following a multiyear, multi-million-dollar renovation, this summer will be the first opportunity for The Umbrella to host camps in three newly constructed classrooms.

The Umbrella Stage Company is proud to present a Regional Premiere of the original artistic production of HUNDRED DAYS.

In Digital Animation Lab, taught by Alex Salsberg, students learn about the whole process of creating an animation, including writing, storyboarding, animating, and sound editing. Over the course of the program, students create their own short cartoons to show to their friends and family. While the current session of this class has just begun, here is the collection of student work from the Fall 2019 section of Digital Animation Lab. We're so proud of how their work turned out, and are excited to see what our next class creates!

The weather may be colder and the days may be shorter, but as we turn the page on a new year and head towards the back half of our inaugural season in our new home, I am excited to bring something truly unique and inspiring to the stage here at The Umbrella.

This fall I’ve been spending my Wednesday afternoons playing with my fabric stash in the company of seven people who are playing with their fabrics, too. We’ve been learning more about color and how to better use it in our quilts. 

Popular Umbrella Arts Center teacher Sarah Scoville was recently interviewed at The Umbrella for a video segment produced by Sarah & Company, which publishes profiles of local creatives, craftspeople and builders in its series "The Makers".

There can’t be a very large club of people who, in their lifetimes, have seen their original novels be turned into musicals for the stage. Natalie Babbitt, who was a distant friend of mine, is one of them. 

The Umbrella Arts Education Program is excited to bring on new faculty and classes in woodworking, laser cutting, and glass flame work this winter!
