Ilyse Robbins is an Elliot Norton Award-winning Director and Choreographer who is making her Umbrella Stage Company debut later this month at the helm of LIZZIE, the musical.

Oct. 15, the mood was buoyant at The Umbrella as the mainstage theater reopened for public concerts with a sold-out benefit performance by Indigo Girls. The packed house was on its feet and singing along throughout the set, effusive in applause not just for Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, but for the dazzling violinist Lyris Hung.

Indigo Girls Join Umbrella's Largest-Ever Virtual Annual Meeting

New Board Members Introduced, Annual Report Published

In something of a silver lining for this COVID-impacted time, The Umbrella Arts Center hosted its largest-ever gathering for its annual meeting on the evening of December 15.  The event – normally held at 40 Stow Street – was conducted for the first-time entirely via Zoom, allowing a wider level of participation by distant, at-home, and traveling community members, donors, artists, and cultural organizations.

Songs for a New World Concert This Saturday

Join us this Saturday as we celebrate Black History Month with a concert performance of Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown! This musical performance will feature some of Boston's greatest artists of color, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Front Porch Arts Collective.

Songs for a New World is a one-time performance at The Umbrella Main Stage Theater this Saturday, February 29 at 8:00 pm.
