Ninjas in Nature Summer Camp
Want to combine ARTS and ENVIRONMENT this Summer?
The Umbrella Arts & Environment Program is pleased to offer an all-new, action-packed adventure day camp based on our successful Ninjas in Nature classes this summer!
Active, creative kids will have a chance to combine skills of nature, awareness, high energy games, art activities and introductory arts of the ancient ninja. Each week offers the Ninjas in Nature curriculum and opportunity to earn certifications, but also provides a slightly different set of activities based on the interests and knowledge of instructors.
All Ninjas in Nature camps run Mon-Fri, 9 am - 4 pm, for ages 8-12, and are held at Nashoba Brooks School, 200 Strawberry Hill Rd, Concord, MA 01742.
WEEK 1: July 8-12 - Ninjas in Nature Advance Camp with Ken Clarkson & Mark Roemke
Mon-Fri, 9 am - 4 pm - Ages 8-12
Join us for an action packed adventure day camp as we combine skills of nature, awareness, high energy games, and introductory arts of the ancient ninja. Campers will also practice the arts of becoming invisible on a landscape through movement and earthen camouflage. They will connect with expressive arts through woodworking, calligraphy, and nature sketching. We will cover the 24 skills of the "Level 2 Chi Rank" curriculum and more. Being an "advanced" camp, this camp is geared towards students who have previously participated in the NiN Camp or Umbrella after school ninja programs where they learned Level 1 skills. Registration is open to new students as well. New students can learn the 4 prerequisite skills at home prior to camp to prepare them (we will share the online videos with these campers prior to camp). Campers receive a camp shirt and rank certificate.
WEEK 2: July 15-19 - Ninjas in Nature with Skyler Williams and Henry Breiter
Join us for a week where we dive into the art of ninja movement. West Coast ninja Skyler Williams will bring his skills as a parkour trainer to the forests to lead agility and dynamic movement in nature. Using nature as the dojo, students will do nature-obstacle courses and play high energy movement games on the landscape. Local ninja Henry Breiter will balance these activities with mindfulness skills that teach the quiet mind, focus, and invisibility of the ninja. Each afternoon features hands-on art-making with natural materials. Students will also learn the 4 Level 1 NiN Rank skills of our Ninjas in Nature program and will receive a certificate and shirt at the completion of camp.
WEEK 3: July 22-26 - Ninjas of the Woods Camp with Rob Riman & Tim Swanson
Mon-Fri, 9 am - 4 pm - Ages 8-12
This camp, led by Rob Riman and PrimiTim Swanson, will focus on the "woodland ways" as seen through the eyes of a ninja. Campers will learn the skills of nature, awareness, high energy games, and practice the arts of becoming invisible on a landscape through movement and earthen camouflage. This week, campers will focus on hands-on woodworking projects, secret wisdom of the trees, and other forest crafts, awareness activities, and games. Students will also learn the 4 Level 1 NiN Rank skills of our Ninjas in Nature program and will receive a certificate and shirt at the completion of camp.
ON or AFTER June 1 = $510 per week
