Empty Bowls

How Can an Empty Bowl Feed a Hungry Person?

World hunger is a never-ending problem, and the Empty Bowls initiative has grown into a global movement of artists who want to do something about it.

The Umbrella Ceramics Program and The Umbrella Arts Education Program have annually hosted or participated in Empty Bowls events in our region for many years.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. When you arrive for lunch, you can make a modest donation of $25 or more, and be welcomed at a table loaded with nutritious soups, homemade bread and other tasty treats.
  2. Afterwards, you'll select one of the those beautiful empty bowls and take it home as a token of our thanks and a reminder of the many empty bowls all around the world that need our ongoing help.
  3. Your donations go to charities that work to alleviate local and world hunger.

This year, we are thrilled to join with Concord's Newbury Court to present over 400 lovely handmade bowls for our Nov. 3 fundraiser, with 100% of the donations going to Open Table, the Concord charity dedicated to fighting hunger and building healthy communities. Held in Newbury Court's Morrison Theater, this fun and social event features delicious soups, entertainment, a silent auction, and a beautiful selection of handcrafted ceramics, including many made by Umbrella artists.

So please join us for this year's special event. It will be fun to have you join us, and you'll have done something good for people who need your help!
