Staged Reading: A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE by Arthur Miller
We are thrilled to kick off our 2016/2017 Staged Reading Series with A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE by Arthur Miller! Directed by Mark Baumhardt, this American classic tells of a longshoreman, Eddie Carbone, who is confident of his place in the working-class neighborhood he calls home. That life changes when he agrees to harbor his immigrant cousins. A love affair exposes a dark family secret, and suspicion, jealousy and betrayal soon follow in this passionate drama by one of America’s greatest playwrights.
The staged reading series was designed to highlight lesser-known or rarely produced works with a focus on telling stories which create dialogues or tackle important social issues. The series provides a platform for important voices to be heard and for our artists and audiences to engage with the Performing Arts at The Umbrella in a new and exciting way. Past titles include Angels in America by Tony Kushner, Looking for Normal by Jane Anderson, and Third by Wendy Wasserstein.
