Sept 14 Building the Arts Open House

On Saturday, September 14, from NOON-to-3PM, the public is invited to the Building the Arts Open House to celebrate The Umbrella's newly artists studios, art galleries, ceramics studios, makerspace, classrooms, dance studio, and multitheater performing arts facilities in the historic Emerson School building at 40 Stow Street.

Free, family-friendly activities, exhibits, dance performances, and refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon. Highlights:

  • Watch an open rehearsal of 42ND STREET on main stage. Small groups will be admitted on a regular basis. Since this is a rehearsal in progress, please, no talking.
  • Visit our studio artists - 20+ artists are hosting Open Studios
  • Drop in to WITNESS Activities for all ages related to our current exhibit in conjunction with the National Park Service. Room 109
  • Visit the Gallery for exhibition of works by Nicholas Mancini, the 2018-2019 Umbrella Artist in Residence and meet Jess Muise, curator of the exhibit and Visual Arts Manager
  • Visit the Box Office for tickets to The Umbrella Stage Company season and our upcoming Concert Series headliner to be announced today!
  • Get an Umbrella tattoo and see a new classroom: Room 223
  • Enjoy Yumbrella and Stow Street Sprinkles ice cream available from Reasons to be Cheerful
  • Drawing: Sign up for our mailing list and you’ll be automatically entered to win prizes from The Umbrella and partners (Trail’s End, Colonial Inn), including a hospitality gift basket valued at over $550 courtesy of Best Western Concord.

The Open House is just the first in a full season of free public events, opening celebrations, and expanded programming planned to commemorate The Umbrella's expansion.
