ArtTalk: The Art of Empty Bowls
The Art of Empty Bowls
September 15, 2016 at 7:00 pm
On November 3, The Umbrella is hosting its third annual Empty Bowls event to celebrate clay and service. In the past two years, we have made more than 300 bowls and raised over $5,000 for Open Table, Concord’s local food pantry. At this month’s ArtTalk, hear from our ceramics coordinator and clay artists as well as a panel of experts from around the region who have hosted Empty Bowl events at their own organizations. We’ll be discussing the connection between art and community service. Then come back on November 3 to get your own bowl!
Panelists include:
Caitlyn Marsh: Resident Artist and Clay Coordinator at The Umbrella
Richard J.S. Gutman: Director & Curator, Culinary Arts Museum at Johnson & Wales University
Jen Berry, Ceramic Student at The Umbrella
Lynn Gervens: Executive Director at Mudflats
The ArtTalk series brings presentations about visual art to The Umbrella that spark insightful conversations and rich contemplation. Tickets to all of The Umbrella's ArtTalks are $10 for the general public and $7 for resident artists.
