FALL YOUTH: Handbuilding Fundamentals (Ages 8-12)

Course Description:     
In this class students will explore different hand building and wheel throwing ceramics projects. While hand-building they will learn to work with pinch pots, slabs, and coils and to create your own functional ceramic pieces, as well as ceramic sculptures. They will also learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, practice basic techniques like centering, shaping, and creating simple forms. Students that have taken this course previously are welcome to take it again as projects will be new from the previous semester.

Nayda A. Cuevas was born in Puerto Rico. She obtained a BFA in Fine Art (2002) from Stetson University in Deland FL and her MFA in Visual Arts (2015) at Lesley College of Art (Former Art Institute of Boston) in Cambridge, MA.
