WINTER ADULTS WORKSHOP: Kintsugi

Course Description:     
This 3-hour hybrid kintsugi workshop introduces both traditional urushi and a simplified repair method. Participants learn the philosophy and hands-on process of kintsugi while repairing a small broken piece. Please note: This is an intro to kintsugi class and is suitable for beginners.The material in this workshop reacts similarly to poison ivy so individuals need to fill out a waiver form beforehand.

Instructor: Sayako Hiroi
Sayako Hiroi is a Japanese visual artist based in Boston, working across painting and traditional kintsugi. Her practice responds to silence and erasure, and to the unseen traces of presence, drawing from feminist ethics and Japanese visual archives.
