Musketaquid Earth Day Celebration

The Old North Bridge at Minute Man National Historical Park & The Old Manse

The Umbrella's Arts & Environment program continues to create solace, community, and reconnection with nature. Please join us for our annual Musketaquid Earth Day celebration which will take place at The Old North Bridge at Minute Man National Historical Park & The Old Manse. We will follow public health guidelines for a safe and joyful reimagination of Concord's traditional Musketaquid Earth Day celebration, while continuing to expand the reach of our environmental mission. The theme for this year's celebration is Stories from the Earth. How does the Earth speak to you? What is the Earth telling you?

We look forward to seeing you again! Here's what to expect at our celebration!

• Please park at the Minute Man National Historical Park North Bridge Visitor Center on Liberty Street. If you have mobility issues you will be directed to The Old Manse parking lot.
• Drinking water will be available on site, but please bring a refillable water bottle.
• There will be an ice cream truck on site from 12-3pm! Please consider bringing a picnic if you will want more substantial food during the event, and please plan to take any trash you generate with you when you leave.
• Bathrooms for the event are across Monument Street opposite The Robbins House and at the North Bridge Visitor Center.
• The River Ceremony will take place at 11am at the Old North Bridge. Afternoon activities will take place on the side lawn and in the orchard at The Old Manse from 12pm-3pm.

Festivities and activities will include:
 

River Ceremony at The Old North Bridge: 10:00am - 12:00pm

• Help build Earth Floats onsite: 10:00am - 11:00am
• Ceremony: 11:00am - 11:30am
• Procession to The Old Manse: 11:30am - 11:45am

Festival in collaboration with The Old Manse: 12:00pm - 3:00pm

• Performances
  • 12:00pm: Welcome & Storyteller Diane Edgecomb
    Stories and Songs for a Blue Planet - Diane Edgecomb entertains with interactive stories & songs for the whole family!
  • 1:00pm: Christopher Croucher - Letting the Land Lead Dance Performance
    An immersive dance performance that brings audiences into greater connection with themselves and the land they live on.
  • 1:45pm: Behind the Mask Theatre - The Woman Who Outshone the Sun
    This theatre troupe brings a poem inspired by a Zapotec folktale to life. When a mysterious woman is exiled from a mountain village, she takes the river with her and the villagers must learn the importance of tolerance and forgiveness, and understand their impact on the world around them.
  • Music by R.D. King
    R.D. King is an award-winning composer and performer of instrumental acoustic guitar music.

Earth Month Exhibition: April 6 - April 23
Accompanying our Earth Day celebration is an Earth Month exhibition at The Umbrella Arts Gallery. We invite you to stop by the gallery to check out the incredible work relating to the theme, Stories from the Earth that was received from artists around the region and the world!
Please join us for an Artists Reception in the gallery on Friday, April 22 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.
