Article: Crafting Social Change, One Plastic Bag at a Time
February 27, 2019 by Stewart Ikeda
A new article by Angela Thoma in The Concord Journal gives a great behind-the-scenes look at how Concord Academy senior Audrey Lin developed Matting Change, the creative, innovative project that transforms recycled plastic bags into sleeping mats for homeless youth in Boston.
The Umbrella has been pleased to host Lin for workshops to instruct community volunteers how to craft the mats, in association with Migration: A Curated Fiber Arts Exhibit this winter. The public is invited to participate in the second of two workshops on the evening of February 27, from 5:30-7:30PM. Free and open to the public, registration required. Recommended for 16+, children may be accompanied by an adult.
