FALL ADULTS WORKSHOP: Soda Firing

INT/ADV

Course Description:
We are offering currently enrolled students the chance to register for upcoming soda firings. Registration will provide a “share” of the kiln, approximately one 14” X 28” kiln shelf worth of space. Work will be loaded with an eye to fairness and an efficient kiln load.

For those new to soda firing we will be offering a ~2 hour orientation and informational meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. Participants will also be sent an informational handout via email. Registration for this firing will also require participation in either the loading, firing, or unloading process. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the technical aspects of firing ceramic work. We will plan on firing two kilns, one in October and one in December (see dates below). Firing dates are subject to change if necessary. Questions should be directed to Zachary@TheUmbrellaArts.org. This class is open to intermediate-advanced students currently enrolled in a Fall semester ceramics class or the Independent Program (not recommended for beginners).
