FALL ADULTS: Drawing and Oil Painting: Practicing the Language of Visual Art
Course Description:
What makes a painting “work”?
Learning the principles of design gives you a vocabulary for the language of visual art and the ability to create cohesive, effective, and visually appealing compositions.
Drawing is the essential foundation for representational painting and can stand alone as a complete work.
This class will offer you several ways to develop your skills. Those with painting experience will maintain their personal vision. The instructor will work with those new to painting to recommend a direction. The combination of newer students with advanced painters working side by side has always been a rich and congenial learning experience.
For all students, direct observation is strongly encouraged, and a still-life set up will always be available. Students may also bring their own objects as subject matter or work from a strong photo image.
Each week one of the basic principles of design will be introduced by looking at master paintings and drawings. Related assignments will be available each week.
