Kevin Kusiolek

Kevin Kusiolek is an accomplished contemporary oil painter based in Maynard, Massachusetts, whose work bridges the line between realism and abstraction to reveal the gritty balance within modern landscapes. A graduate of Towson University (BFA, 2010), Kevin’s paintings have earned representation with Bowersock Gallery (Provincetown), Three Stones Gallery (Concord), and Renjeau Galleries (Natick). His work is widely collected and exhibited throughout New England, recognized for its atmospheric depth, refined color sensibility, and ability to transform everyday spaces into introspective visual experiences. “I consider my paintings as visual diaries influenced by the places I’ve lived and traveled. My goal is to translate a personal experience onto canvas—not as a literal depiction, but as an emotional record of light, structure, and atmosphere. While people often inhabit these environments, I’m more interested in their presence and energy than their form.” As an instructor, Kevin brings this same thoughtful and exploratory approach to teaching. His workshops emphasize pushing creative boundaries, embracing risk, and reimagining traditional methods through a modern lens. Students are encouraged to experiment with both classical and unconventional tools—brushes, brayers, scrapers—to discover new ways of seeing and expressing. Kevin’s teaching fosters an environment where mistakes become breakthroughs, and technique serves as a springboard for individuality, confidence, and artistic growth.
