Kacie Brown

For over two decades, Kacie Brown’s work in the theater has been guided by a desire to fi nd truth, connection and catharsis in the human experience, storytelling, and the voice. Her journey began on camera and behind the microphone in Los Angeles as an actress and voiceover artist following her studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts Hollywood. Driven to dig deeper into performance training and ensemble creation, she went on to earn her BFA in Acting from UNC School of the Arts, and an MFA in Directing from the University of Idaho—a path that expanded her practice into classical staging, intimacy direction, and somatic vocal work.

Today, Kacie is based in Boston, where she serves on the faculty at Emerson College, guiding emerging artists through the foundational Linklater voice progression, text mastery, and actor training. Her dedication as a Designated Linklater Teacher Trainee shapes a consent-forward, releasing approach that empowers her students, who have gone on to perform on Broadway and star in series across Hulu, ABC, and Netflix.

As a director and educator, Kacie’s creative reach extends from opera and international stages—including work with Boston Lyric Opera and original projects in Leipzig, Germany—to her current residency as a Teaching Artist with The Umbrella Stage Company. Anchored in community leadership, she also evaluates regional theater on the Elliot Norton Awards Nominating Committee and sits on the boards for the Arlington Center for the Arts and The Un-Common Theatre Company. She remains an active member of VASTA, SDC, and AEA.
