Artist Statement:
My attraction to oil painting stems from its rich history and timeless nature. Oil painting offers each artist a deeply personal and unique experience. It evolves with you, continually challenging your skills and perspective. I’m captivated by the longevity of oil paintings—the way they can be shared, experienced, and appreciated for generations without the need for technology. In contrast, my years of creating television imagery left much of my work lost to outdated formats.
My work often reflects the places in Concord that held special meaning for me and my late wife, Joëlle, who was my first and greatest inspiration. Through painting, I honor those memories and the moments we cherished together. While I’m inspired by the fluidity and abstraction in others’ work, I find myself drawn to an impressionistic style, focusing on the color and light of a scene rather than the finer details. My goal is always to capture the essence of a moment, though the journey is one of continual learning and discovery.
