CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
 
JON: A struggling composer on the brink of his 30th birthday. Michael's roommate and Susan's boyfriend. Age approximately 25 to 30. Vocal range A4-A2
MICHAEL: A former actor-turned-market research executive. He is Jon's roommate and best friend. Age approximately 25 to 35. Vocal range Gb4 - Bb2
SUSAN: A dancer and Jon's girlfriend. Sexy, kind, independent. Age approximately 20 to 30. Vocal range D5-A3
*Michael and Susan double into other small cameo roles. 
 
WHERE
Auditions will be held in person at The Umbrella Arts Center, 40 Stow Street, Concord, MA 01742

Tuesday, June 3rd with appointments from 4p-8p
Wednesday, June 4th with appointments from 4p-8p
 
Callbacks, by invitation, will take place on Thursday, June 5th at 4 pm. 
 
WHAT TO PREPARE
Please prepare a short musical selection (1 minute or less) in the style of the show.

PAUL: 55+ - A regular at the local diner. Weary, done with living. 
KATIE: 30’s - A waitress at the local diner. Ran away from something. Still holding on to the past.
PEG: 40’s-50’s - a local physician. Has some history with Paul 
 

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD

JEAN LOUISE FINCH:  White. Adult Scout, narrator of the play, age is approximately mid 30s to 50s
ATTICUS: White. A lawyer, father of Jem and Scout, approximately mid 50’s (This role is filled. Candidates will be seen for understudy only)
CALPURNIA: Black. The Finch family’s housekeeper, approximately 30-60
MAUDIE ATKINSON: White. A kind neighbor of the Finch’s, approximately 40-50
WALTER CUNNINGHAM: White. A hard-up farmer, approximately 40-50
REVEREND SYKES: Black. A minister, approximately 50-60
HECK TATE: White. The town sheriff, approximately 40-50
STEPHANIE CRAWFORD: White. A neighborhood gossip, approximately 40-70
BOO RADLEY: White. A recluse, approximately 30s-mid 40s
NATHAN RADLEY: White. Boo’s older brother, approximately 30s-mid 40s
MRS. DUBOSE: White. An ill old woman, approximately 70-80
TOM ROBINSON: Black. Accused of raping Mayella Ewell, approximately 25-40
JUDGE TAYLOR: White. A judge, approximately 50s-70s
R. GILMER: White. A public prosecutor, approximately 30-50
BOB EWELL: White. Mayella’s father, approximately 40-50
MAYELLA EWELL: White. The oldest daughter of Bob Ewell, approximately 18-mid 20
HELEN ROBINSON:  Black. Tom’s wife, approximately 25-40
SCOUT: Atticus’s young daughter, to play between the ages of 9-12*
JEM: Atticus’s son, a few years older than his sister Scout, to play between the ages of 10-14*
DILL: Scout’s and Jem’s friend from the neighborhood, to play between the ages of 9-13*
*Auditions for the roles of Scout, Jem, and Dill to be played by youth actors will take place at a later date. This call is for adult actors only. 
*Some roles may be doubled

Please prepare a contemporary American monologue no more than 1 minute in length. Those wishing to be considered for TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD should prepare their monologue with a southern accent.
