The Concord Film Project presents Northern Borders

**Due to an unforeseen work conflict, Director Jay Craven will not be in attendance on Tuesday, June 14, but has arranged for Howard Mosher, author of Northern Borders, to attend the post-film Q & A in his absence. Mr. Craven looks forward to attending a Concord Film Project event in the near future.

Howard Mosher is a contemporary author of thirteen books: eleven fiction and two non-fiction. Much of his fiction takes place in the mid-20th century and all of it is set in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, a region loosely defined by the three counties in the northeastern corner of the state (Essex, Orleans, and Caledonia). His characters are often quirky, reflecting the distinctive peculiarities of the region's taciturn residents. The community struggle with changing times is often a theme, with the more traditional ways of rural Yankee life coming in conflict with an expanding, modern society. His most recent novel is God's Kingdom (St. Martin's Press, October 2015).

The Concord Film Project is thrilled to welcome this talented and accomplished author to our Tuesday event!

On Tuesday, June 14 we invite audiences to a showing of Northern Borders, followed by a Q & A with Howard Mosher, author of Northern BordersNorthern Borders tells the story of ten year-old Austen Kittredge who is sent by his father to live on his grandparents' Vermont farm, where he experiences wild adventures and uncovers long-festering family secrets. It's 1956 and Austen experiences the farm as a place full of eccentric people, especially his stubborn grandparents whose thorny marriage is known as the Forty Years War. Initially feeling stuck in this fractured household, young Austen plans a quick exit but ends up stranded with no choice but to navigate and endure. A humorous and sometimes startling coming-of-age-story, Northern Borders evokes Vermont's wildness, its sublime beauty, a haunted past, and an aura of enchantment.
