The Concord Film Project Presents "Habemus Papam (We Have a Pope)"

The Umbrella Community Arts Center is excited to host The Concord Film Project. Following a successful pilot program of short films in January, which drew an audience from Concord and surrounding towns, The Concord Film Project will present a series of feature length films.

On Tuesday, April 21, The Umbrella will welcome audiences for Habemus Papam (We Have a Pope). When Cardinal Melville is elected pope, he finds himself thrust into a position he never expected and doesn’t want. After he panics when he is presented to the faithful in St. Peter’s Square, the Vatican decides to employ a psychiatrist, who is neither particularly religious nor committed to the task, to try to resolve the new Pope’s reluctance to be Pope.

Directed by Nanni Moretti | Not Rated | Runtime 104 minutes

Doors open at 6:30 PM and the films begin at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10 and include a bag of popcorn. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online (additional fees apply to online ticket purchases). For more information, call 978-371-0820.

Organizers Dinah Buechner-Vischer, Kim Burns, and Kristin Canty are thrilled to see the project, which grew from conversations with film lovers who wanted a place to watch films in Concord, take off. “We are excited to bring to Concord access to independent, fascinating films not shown in other area theaters. And the opportunity to socialize, have a glass of wine, talk about the film,” says Burns. “We want to provide friends and neighbors of our community with an ongoing opportunity to gather together to view masterful films,” says Buechner-Vischer. “It’s a fun, thought-provoking way to spend time and have lively conversation, along with casual socializing and delicious food.”
