Featuring
A celebration of this year’s Elizabeth Cochary Gross Stewardship of the Arts honoree

GREGORY MAGUIRE

Former Umbrella board member, fierce advocate of children’s literacy, and devoted steward of the arts, Gregory is a celebrated novelist and the best-selling author of Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West which inspired the Tony award-winning musical and upcoming two-part film adaptation. Other best known books by Maguire include Egg & Spoon, a Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor Award winner, the Another Day series, After Alice, and Mirror Mirror. He is the cofounder of, and for a quarter century co-directed, a nonprofit called Children’s Literature New England, whose aim was focusing attention on the significance of literature in the lives of children. We are humbled to celebrate his contributions to The Umbrella and the greater arts community.
