FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: STILLNESS Exhibition at The Umbrella to feature Artists from Concord, Carlisle, Bedford, and Acton
STILLNESS Exhibition at The Umbrella to feature Artists from Concord, Carlisle, Bedford, and Acton
June 2017 (Concord, MA) - The Umbrella welcomes everyone to STILLNESS, their summer Arts Gallery exhibition, featuring resident artists Lois Andersen, Sing Hanson, Lonnie Harvey, and Max Payne. STILLNESS opens on June 16 and runs through August 14, 2017, with an opening reception on June 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in The Umbrella Gallery on 40 Stow Street in Concord, MA. This exhibit is free and open to the public. For more information, visit theumbrellaarts.org.
Through the mediums of monoprint, painting, photography, and mixed media, the artists have spent the past year considering the effect of stillness, especially in a time increasingly filled with activity that seems to have little meaning. As artists, their goal is to transport, engage, and include the viewers in their acts of creation, whether it is the play of light through trees on water, the sacred nature of artifacts from the earth, the dark beauty of vast fjords and oceans, or a riverbed holding the stones and treasures of their lives.
The artists hope to create an atmosphere where each visitor can begin to enter into the stillness that they themselves have come to know as the ultimate gift.
