Staged Reading: SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION by John Guare

Join us on December 2, 2016 for a staged reading of SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION by John Guare. Directed by Bill Deschenes, the play explores the existential premise that everyone in the world is connected to everyone else in the world by a chain of no more than six acquaintances. The plot was inspired by the real-life story of David Hampton, a con man and robber who managed to convince a number of people in the 1980s that he was the son of actor Sidney Poitier.

The staged reading series was designed to highlight lesser-known or rarely produced works with a focus on telling stories which create dialogues or tackle important social issues. The series provides a platform for important voices to be heard and for our artists and audiences to engage with the Performing Arts at The Umbrella in a new and exciting way. Past titles include Angels in America by Tony Kushner, Looking for Normal by Jane Anderson, and Third by Wendy Wasserstein.
