2nd Annual Empty Bowls Event

Empty Bowls returns to The Umbrella on the First Thursday in November! This is only our second time, and the event has already grown beyond last year. For a suggested donation of $20, attendees can pick a bowl of their choice and fill it with dinner. The funds raised benefit Open Table Concord and will help them continue offering weekly dinner service, keep their food pantry stocked with essentials, and aid in building a supportive community. 

Our Empty Bowls Project this year began in June, with adult students from our clay program collaborating on a day-long bowl making marathon. Throughout summer we glazed, and began making again in Fall.  The bowls presented during the event on November 5th have been made by Umbrella adult and teen students, Umbrella teachers, Umbrella resident artists and staff, teens from the Fenn School, and teens from Middlesex High School & Concord Academy. 

When guests arrive the bowls will be displayed in our gallery on many tables. We are suggesting a donation of $20 to keep a bowl, then enjoy a meal sponsored by Comella’s, Crosby’s Markets, and Nashoba Brook Bakery. New this year, we decided to include some of our more artfully detailed and special pieces on one $30 table. Our event will also include a raffle to win a larger serving bowl.

Guests will bring their bowls downstairs to a large classroom where our dinner service will be held. Comella's will be donating baked ziti, while Nashoba Bakery will be providing bread.

We invite everyone to join us Thursday November 5th from 6pm-8pm! Our artfully handmade ceramic bowls have a wide range of colors, sizes and shapes for everyone. Select a unique piece that speaks to you, while supporting a charitable cause. Our bowls add art to everyday life, while reminding us of the people in our community and beyond that go hungry and have empty bowls.
