The Umbrella is proud to announce auditions for its Fall production of Ayad Akhtar’s DISGRACED!

Amir Kapoor is a successful Pakistani-American lawyer who is rapidly moving up the corporate ladder while distancing himself from his cultural roots. Emily, his wife, is white; she's an artist, and her work is influenced by Islamic imagery. When the couple hosts a dinner party, what starts out as a friendly conversation escalates into something far more damaging. Winner of the 2013 Pulitzer Prize. "…a continuously engaging, vitally engaged play about thorny questions of identity and religion in the contemporary world, with an accent on the incendiary topic of how radical Islam and the terrorism it inspires have affected the public discourse.

We are actively seeking a talented ensemble of performers of appropriate cultural backgrounds.

All those cast will be offered a travel stipend.

When: June 26th and 27th at 7 pm, by appointment
Where: The Umbrella, 40 Stow St. Concord, MA.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Sides will be handed out upon check in.

Performances are scheduled for September 29th – October 15th, 2017. Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 3 pm.
